A Conversation with V2A Foundation

V2A Foundation is the social arm of V2A Consulting, a Puerto Rican strategic management consulting firm with more than 20 years serving organizations in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. Through their WeServe programs, they strengthen the organizational capacity of nonprofits through strategic consulting, digital transformation, and talent development. Over the years, they have supported more than 50 organizations in facing their challenges and maximizing their social impact.

We spoke with them about their work, the challenges facing the nonprofit sector on the island, and what brought them to the Puerto Rico Nonprofit Summit.

What does generating impact mean to you, and how do you measure it?

Impact is when a nonprofit has a clearly defined strategic vision and the organizational capacity to do more with less. We measure it in installed capacities: more efficient processes, data-driven decisions, and better results in every organization we serve. The results are concrete: more than 50 organizations supported, over 25,000 pro bono hours invested, and more than $4M in value generated.

What do you see as the most urgent challenge facing our communities today?

Doing more with less. Nonprofits face high demand, limited resources, and a significant administrative load. Without processes, systems, and digital tools, talent gets consumed by operational tasks instead of generating impact. The challenge is to strengthen how they operate so they can scale their impact.

Looking ahead, how would you like to see the nonprofit sector in Puerto Rico evolve?

A stronger and more digital sector, where nonprofits use data and technology to make decisions, anticipate needs, and scale their impact sustainably, without losing the human element.

Why do you consider spaces like the Puerto Rico Nonprofit Summit important for the development of the nonprofit sector?

Spaces like PRNS are key to connecting, learning, and sharing tools that strengthen the organizational capacity of nonprofits in Puerto Rico. By bringing together sector leaders, common challenges become visible and collective learning accelerates. Exposure to local and international experts allows organizations to innovate, adopt best practices, and explore new sources of funding. It's a space to learn and build ecosystem.

How can organizations make better use of the resources, tools, or knowledge you offer?

By starting with a concrete use case. Through practical workshops, like our AI for nonprofits workshop, we help identify where digital and artificial intelligence generate the greatest immediate value and how to translate that into clear actions.

This is complemented by our WeServe ecosystem:

  • WeServe Fellows, where teams of students and consultants develop pro bono projects during the summer.

  • WeServe Projects, which allows for the execution of larger-scale initiatives throughout the year.

  • WeServe Partners, our strategic accompaniment model to define organizational and digital roadmaps and implement changes sustainably.

The goal is to strengthen capacities, not create dependency. The first step is a conversation.

We thank V2A Consulting for being part of this effort and for their commitment to strengthening the nonprofit ecosystem in Puerto Rico.
